Shafana is an accomplished community builder and facilitator, known for her strategic thinking and extensive leadership experience in both the public and private sectors.
With a strong focus on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), she has worked tirelessly to integrate these values into organizational frameworks, making significant contributions in the areas of corporate finance, client-centric services, program transformation, public policy, and board governance.
Her career spans nearly 25 years, including 5 years in the private sector and almost two decades in the public sector, culminating in the launch of her own consulting practice. Her expertise in public policy, especially in social integrity, is particularly noteworthy.
As the former Executive Director for Status of Women and Multiculturalism at the Government of Alberta, she played a key role in shaping policies that enhance equity. She forged strong relationships with stakeholders to improve access to programs and services across Alberta, impacting countless individuals and communities.
One of her most notable achievements was the implementation of the first-ever Diversity and Inclusion policy and program for the Government.
This groundbreaking initiative included the creation of comprehensive programs, learning, and development opportunities, benefitting over 28,000 employees across the province. Her commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace continues to drive her work and impact today.
Wade is a recognized leader and administrator in the post-secondary Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) sector, with over 18 years of experience in developing and advancing EDI practices.
His work is rooted in research, relationships, and a deep understanding of the intersection between policies, structures, and equitable experiences. Wade is an alumnus of Mount Allison University and a graduate of the University Management Course at the University of Manitoba.
Throughout his career, Wade has gained extensive experience in leading EDI initiatives at large, complex organizations. Notably, he served for 11 years as the Director of Human Rights and Safe Disclosure at the University of Alberta. In this role, he led an institution-wide mandate to develop and implement strategies, plans, and practices focused on EDI, Human Rights, and Safe Disclosure.
A sought-after speaker, advisor, and mentor, Wade is known for his ability to guide organizations in applying critical lenses to their work, enabling them to identify inequities and implement measurable solutions. He has built a vast network of post-secondary EDI practitioners and is well-versed in leading best practices in the field.

With a business degree from Concordia University, Rebecca is a certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Step II trainer and holds PROSCI Change Management certification. She is also an executive coach, having received certification in diversity coaching from Howard University.

Jill is a senior policy / strategy professional, and an experienced facilitator, trainer, and public speaker who has been working in DEI for over 10 years.
Leveraging over 25 years of professional experience in diverse settings, including the non-profit, social enterprise, private, and public sectors, Jill fosters meaningful and resonant conversations about relationship, access, equity, and belonging in a wide range of contexts.
Key career highlights include leading the development and implementation multiple programs for the Government of Alberta’s Diversity and Inclusion strategy and leading the learning portfolio for the Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters, including the organization’s prevention of gender-based and domestic violence initiatives.
Jill has a proven track record of applying effective and inclusive strategic and process-based approaches that support organizational sustainability. She is skilled in GBA+ and intersectional analysis, program development, facilitation, leadership development, and more.
Having facilitated conversations about challenging topics for audiences ranging from parliamentarians to professional athletes to faith groups, Jill’s work stands out for her willingness to meet people with empathy and embrace personal and structural leadership to affect culture shifts.
