Our Land Acknowledgement
At aKollage Consulting Inc., we respectfully acknowledge that our work takes place on the traditional territories and meeting grounds of many Indigenous Nations.
We have the great privilege to live, work and raise our families on the traditional territories and meeting grounds of many First Nations, including the Cree, Blackfoot, Assiniboine, Dene, Nakota Sioux and Saulteaux Peoples. This land is also the homeland of the Métis people of the North Saskatchewan River Territory, who share a deep history here. I am bound to these communities through our common humanity and through the agreement we know today as Treaty 6.
As children of immigrants who calls this place home, we benefit from this treaty of peace and friendship, and have a duty to honour its terms through our actions, not only our words. We thank the diverse Indigenous Peoples who have cared for this land for generations. They have spoken the truth about the colonial and systemic racism they continue to face, and they lead the work of healing and change with courage, strength and continuing achievement.
We believe reconciliation requires action, and that any work involving Indigenous Peoples must be led by Indigenous lived experience. In our practice, this means we will:
• partner with Indigenous leaders, Elders and Knowledge Keepers so that Indigenous voices guide the work, rather than inform it after the fact;
• follow community protocols, respect Indigenous culture and perspectives, and recognize the time and knowledge that people share with us;
• listen first, and learn and unlearn continuously; and
• hold ourselves and the organizations we work with accountable to the Truth and
Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action through concrete, measurable steps.
We move forward into this work in the spirit of collaboration and respect, with clear intention and a commitment to honour my sacred responsibility to all who share this land.
